Meet Al Lis on Trumpet & Flugelhorn!

Allen Lis is a native of the Buffalo area where he graduated from North Tonawanda High School. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from SUNY Fredonia as well as a Master of Arts degree from SUNY Brockport.

Al is currently teaching instrumental music at Spry Middle School in Webster where he directs two concert bands as well as a jazz ensemble.

Al is also on staff at Finger Lakes Community College as the Assistant Conductor of the Finger Lakes Community College Concert Band.

Previous to Alís employment in Webster, he spent nine years as the Middle School and Elementary Band Director at Honeoye Central School. At Honeoye, he directed the 5th Grade, 6th Grade, and 7th & 8th Grade Concert Bands as well as the Middle School Jazz Ensemble and Marching Band.

Al has served on the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestraís Outstanding Music Educator Award Committee as well as adjudicating the Ontario County All-County Jazz Ensemble. He has been an active member of NYSSMA, NYSBDA, MENC, and the Greater Niagara Professional Musicians Association.

Al spends most of his weekends playing with a variety of bands in the Rochester area, most notably the Krazy Firemen, and The Blues Family, of Nik Entertainment, in which he has performed and traveled throughout the United States and Canada.

When Al is not involved with music related activities, he is busy with his wife Sharon and their two daughters Bailey and Logan. He also enjoys outdoor activities including camping, fishing, hunting, and playing and coaching softball where he served as President of the Honeoye Menís Softball League.
